On 2 July 2022, 64 volunteers, employees of the Inter Cars Capital Group, together with their loved ones, met at the Wkra River to clean up the river banks and its surroundings together, as part of the Operation Clean River campaign and the Inter Cars Foundation. The result was 52 bags of garbage collected, i.e. about 655 kg of waste
- The result, which we achieved during the two-hour cleaning campaign, is on the one hand gratifying - because we cleaned up the beautiful areas around the river - but on the other hand saddening, because it shows how much work we all still have to do to change people's mentality. Our event also had educational elements, which are extremely important. We wanted to raise the environmental awareness of our employees, so that in the form of good fun they could gain knowledge and become ambassadors of change for the benefit of people and the climate," says Joanna Pieśluk, ESG Manager and Board Representative of the Inter Cars Foundation.
In addition to cleaning up, the event also included an educational aspect - the volunteers had the opportunity to take part in workshops on bee-keeping and the herbs of the Apteczkowa Panna, as well as a workshop led by Honorata Stafiej on art created from waste.
Saturday's event is not the end of the Operation Clean River campaign with the Inter Cars Foundation. It will continue throughout the summer holidays, and Inter Cars branches will be setting up their local teams to clean up rivers and their surroundings all over Poland!
